What clients say

"We'd been putting off the renovation for two years because we couldn't face the decisions. The Spatial Consultation gave us a direction and the confidence to actually start. From there, the whole process with Novala felt manageable. The 3D renders were genuinely helpful — seeing our living room before the furniture arrived made the choices so much less stressful."

"Novala handled the coordination for our office fitout in Damansara. What I appreciated most was that I didn't have to be the go-between for the contractor and the designer. That's usually where things fall apart. The space came out exactly as we'd envisioned, on time, and I only had to visit the site three times the whole way through."

"I wanted some changes to my apartment in Bangsar South but wasn't sure what was realistic within the budget. The consultation was worth every ringgit — I came away with a prioritised list of what to do first and a clear material palette to stick to. Ended up not using a contractor at all for the first phase; just the mood document and some careful shopping was enough."

Apartment owner, Bangsar South · January 2025

"We purchased a double-storey in Cheras and engaged Novala for the full design package before we moved in. The floor plan work was excellent — they found a configuration for the ground floor that we never would have thought of ourselves, and it's completely transformed how we use the space. The contractor found the documentation clear and comprehensive."

"I was sceptical about whether a 7-day consultation could deliver anything substantive. It did. The site visit was thorough, and the mood document they produced showed genuine thought about our space rather than a generic template. We've since used it as the foundation for all our purchasing decisions and the apartment feels coherent in a way it never did before."

"We run a small café in PJ and wanted a proper design before committing to the shophouse fit-out. The 3D renders let us test two completely different layout concepts without any physical work. We went with the second concept, which we'd originally dismissed — and it's now the thing every customer comments on. Very glad we didn't rush in without this step."

Project journeys

A closer look at how the design and coordination process played out across three different project types.

Residential · TTDI

Landed house, end-unit terrace — full design & coordination

The Challenge

A 20-year-old terrace house with a fragmented layout — a kitchen-dining division that made the ground floor feel small, and bedrooms that lacked storage without being impractical. The owners wanted a contemporary feel without major structural changes.

Our Approach

We proposed removing one non-structural wall to open the kitchen-dining zone, redesigning the built-in storage using floor-to-ceiling joinery, and a material palette that used light stone-effect tiles and warm timber to give the ground floor cohesion. The 3D renders showed the owners the change before any work began.

The Outcome

Renovation completed in 11 weeks. The ground floor feels significantly more spacious without any addition to the footprint. The owners reported that the coordination service halved their involvement in day-to-day build decisions, which was their primary source of stress in previous renovation experiences.

Commercial · Bangsar

Wellness studio — spatial consultation & design package

The Challenge

A wellness operator opening their second location in a shophouse in Bangsar. The space had low ceilings, a narrow footprint, and an L-shaped layout that complicated the circulation flow expected for a studio with multiple treatment rooms.

Our Approach

The design started with the circulation plan first — mapping how clients and staff would move through the space at peak times. The resulting layout reduced corridor waste and allowed for four treatment rooms instead of three. Material choices focused on acoustic performance and a sensory calm appropriate to the brand.

The Outcome

The studio opened on schedule. The client noted that the fourth treatment room — recovered from smart circulation planning — was fully booked within the first week. The visual language has since been adopted by their first location as well, giving the brand a consistent spatial identity.

Residential · Mont Kiara

High-rise condominium — spatial consultation only

The Challenge

A recently purchased condominium unit the owner wanted to personalise without a full renovation. The existing furniture felt mismatched and the neutral developer finish needed character, but the owner wasn't ready to commit to significant spending without direction.

Our Approach

The Spatial Consultation identified quick-impact changes: a furniture reconfiguration in the living room, a focused colour palette built around two existing pieces worth keeping, and a lighting layering plan achievable with standard track lighting and floor lamps. No structural work was required.

The Outcome

The owner implemented the recommendations over two months at their own pace. Total spend outside the consultation fee was under MYR 8,000. The apartment, by their account, feels like a deliberate choice now rather than a transitional space — which was exactly what they'd wanted.
